The initiative encourages, government, extractive companies, International agencies and NGO’s to work together to develop a framework to promote transparency of payments in the extractive industries.

EITI pursues a policy of openness which promotes the concept of tolerance and good governance through the disbursement of royalties to benificiary communities and public disclosures...

Government's strategy for the sector is based on the recognition that the development of solid minerals in a sustainable manner can not be achieved without a deep involvement of the affected communities.

The EITI strategy calls for the definition of effective ways and means to empower and engage mining communities in the development process and to promote responsible behavior....

Welcome to The Ghana Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative
GHEITI Dissemination Workshop PDF Print E-mail

Following the launch of the EITI audit reports, the Ghana EITI Secretariat in collaboration with the National Steering Committees is embarking on a series of dissemination workshops with the relevant stakeholders. One of the series is a workshop with Mining Companies and the Municipal/District Assemblies within the mining enclaves. The workshop is to inform the stakeholders on the contents of the 2006, 2007 and 2008 EITI audit reports.

Press Release: Ghana achieves Compliant status of the transparency standard EITI PDF Print E-mail

DAR-ES-SALAAM, 19 OCTOBER 2010.  Ghana has achieved Compliance with the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), the global standard for improved transparency in the oil, gas and mining sectors. The EITI Board designated Ghana as 'EITI Compliant' at a meeting today in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.

Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Honorable Kwabena Duffour with support from colleague Ministers from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Hon Collins Dauda, Environment, Science and Technology, Hon Sherry Ayittey and Deputy Minister for Energy, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah inaugurated the expanded National Steering Committee (NSC) of the Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI) in the Finance Minister’s office from 10am-12pm.

Ghana Play host to regional conference on EITI PDF Print E-mail

Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-ArthurAccra, Sept. 27. GNA – Vice-President Kwesi Amissah- Arthur on Thursday said Ghana has instituted various measures to strengthen its public financial management systems as a way of finding long term solutions to the problem of weak institutional capacities and government ineffectiveness.

In an address read on his behalf at the opening of a two-day regional conference on Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), Mr Amissah-Arthur said the implementation of appropriate initiatives such as reforming the national budgeting processes, implementing fiscal decentralisation regime and sanitising the national payroll systems, among other initiatives and objectives, were adopted to help in addressing obstacles militating against institutional and government effectiveness.
